Royal Caribbean to debut new Icon Class ship in August 2026

Legend of the Seas will sail its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean

Royal Caribbean has revealed its latest Icon Class ship will be called Legend of the Seas and will make its debut in 2026.

The third ship in the Icon Class series, Legend of the Seas will sail its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean in August 2026, with passengers visiting a series of European bucket-list destinations such as France, Italy and Spain.

The vessel will then sail year-round from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting November 2026 on 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean vacations.

Each sailing will include visits to the brand’s private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay. Other signature experiences include snorkelling in Aruba, lounging on the beaches of Jamaica and exploring cultural Curacao.

Legends of the Seas features 40 dining venues, seven swimming pools, including the largest at sea, as well as the largest waterpark at sea

“Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy, and we look forward to bringing the revolutionary lineup of experiences to more families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

Legends of the Seas features eight “neighbourhoods” to suit every type of traveller, 40 F&B options and the largest waterpark at sea.

There are seven swimming pools, including the largest pool at sea, Royal Bay, plus the adults-only Hideaway infinity pool suspended above the ocean.

The new ship will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and boast a number of sustainability features that align with Royal Caribbean Group’s goal for a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
