Skytrax satisfaction survey shows rise of the Middle East

Doha’s Hamad International Airport has secured second place in the global rankings for World’s Best Airport 2025 in the World Airport Awards by Skytrax.

The Qatar hub was beaten to top spot by Singapore Changi Airport.

There was a strong representation from airports across the Middle East with seven entries in the top 50, and Dubai International ranking 11th in the annual survey voted for by passengers.

Bahrain International (20), Riyadh King Khalid International (24), Jeddah King Abdulaziz International (44), Abu Dhabi Zayed International (47), Medina Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International (50), Dammam King Fahd International (57), Muscat International (60) and Salalah International (95) were the other airports from the region to make the global list.

Doha received the award for the World’s Best Airport Shopping, and the Best Airport in the Middle East. Doha was also voted the Best Airport for 50 to 60 million passengers, with Bahrain taking the prize for 5 to 10 million passengers.

The recent opening of Doha’s Concourses D and E means the airport will now have the capacity to handle 65 million passengers a year, putting it up against Singapore Changi which won the 60 to 70 million category in 2025, and was voted overall World’s Best Airport.

Bahrain was also named the World’s Cleanest Airport under 25 million passengers annually and Cleanest Airport in the Middle East.

Medina secured Best Regional Airport in the Middle East while Riyadh has the Best Airport Staff in the region.

Saudi airports saw strong gains on the main top 100 list, with Riyadh rising 11 places and Jeddah 12 places. Abu Dhabi in the UAE also improved by 15 places, while Salalah in Oman broke into the 100 by rising 8 places, but the capital Muscat dropped 20.
