Premium offering to make travel experience “seamless and supportive"
Dubai International airport (DXB) has launched a new VIP service for medical tourists, targeting international patients seeking healthcare in Dubai, a city that attracted more than 691,000 medical tourists in 2023.
A collaboration between Marhaba, a division of Dnata, and healthcare service provider Prime Health, the premium service is designed to make the travel experience as “seamless and supportive as possible from arrival to recovery”.
Marhaba will provide its full suite of services, from meet-and-greet to lounge access, alongside personalised assistance tailored to the patient’s medical specific needs and end-to-end coordination with hospitals and clinics, providing travellers with a hands-free, worry-free journey.
Arriving passengers using the service are met at the gate by Marhaba staff, who assist with fast-track immigration and baggage handling and patients and their families are then whisked away in chauffeur-driven vehicles to their accommodation or medical facilities.
For those with time before or after their appointments, access to Marhaba’s airport lounges offer a comfortable space to relax, complete with refreshments and amenities.

The service also includes Marhaba’s recently launched luggage delivery service, allowing medical tourists to check in for their flights from their hotel or clinic and have their baggage delivered directly to their accommodation, thereby skipping a wait at the carousel or queue at the check-in counters.
What’s more, Prime Health’s medical centres are conveniently located within Terminals 1 and 3, and can provide immediate access to high-quality care as soon as patients arrive.
Jaffar Dawood, dnata’s Divisional Senior Vice President for UAE Airport Operations, said the partnership reflected “our shared focus on care, comfort and service excellence”.
Dubai is particularly popular for dentistry, dermatology, cardiology and fertility treatments and attracted more than 691,000 people for medical treatments in 2023, with spending on healthcare services exceeding AED1.03 billion.
The UAE and the wider GCC region have seen rapid growth in medical tourism, driven by world-class infrastructure, specialised medical services and luxury hospitality, with the GCC’s medical tourism market projected to reach AED79.70 billion (USD21.7 billion) by 2034.
