UAE’s Chedi Hospitality appoints COO

Former GM of The Chedi Muscat takes on global leadership role amid expansion

UAE-based Chedi Hospitality has appointed Karim Bizid as Chief Operations Officer, as the recently rebranded group expands its operational reach and prepares for landmark openings across the Middle East and beyond.

An award-winning hotelier with a strong record of opening and managing luxury hotels in the Middle East, Bizid will shape the group's operational frameworks and brand standards, oversee global operations across new and existing properties and support the opening of upcoming developments in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

With a portfolio of seven Chedi hotels, including luxury properties in the UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Egypt and Oman, Chedi Hospitality has ambitious plans, including rolling out new hotel brand Serai, expanding into new destinations and introducing high-end residences and experiential travel.

No stranger to Chedi Hospitality, Bizid most recently served as General Manager at The Chedi Muscat, and brings a “deep understanding of the brand and its people” to the role, according to Stephan Schupbach, CEO at Chedi Hospitality.

With more than 25 years of luxury hospitality experience in Dubai, Bizid has also served in General Manager roles at Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and The Meydan Hotel, where he managed both pre and post opening and was recognised for restructuring operations, hiring and managing a 450-strong team.

Prior to this, he served as Executive Assistant Manager at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, a position he held for nearly nine years.

He speaks five languages and has a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality.

Commenting on his appointment, Bizid said: “Having witnessed the brand’s transformation first-hand, I am deeply inspired by our vision and proud to be a part of the next phase of growth. I look forward to working closely with our talented teams and partners worldwide to shape operations that are as thoughtful and distinctive as the destinations we create.”

Founded in Asia but now headquartered in Dubai, Chedi Hospitality has seven Chedi-branded hotels, including five in the Middle East, and recently launched a new hotel brand, Serai, designed to "blend immersive entertainment, reimagined local traditions and active wellness experiences".

Recently taking the helm, CEO Schupbach said the rebrand marks the next chapter in the story, one that "honours our heritage while embracing a future of boundless possibilities".
